Responsible Sensing Lab was present at DDW 2021

Responsible Sensing Lab was present at the Dutch Design Week on October 19th within the Up Close & Personal program. One of our initiators Coen took part in the talk show and prototypes of our projects Shuttercam and Shutterring have been exhibited in the Klokgebouw expo.

Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven is the largest design event in Northern Europe and presents work and concepts from more than 2,600 designers to more than 355,000 visitors from home and abroad. The program Up Close & Personal zooms in on design research by the Dutch four technical universities (including our partner TU Delft) on five contemporary themes: what role can design play in tackling these themes?

Talkshow

Coen participated in the Up Close & Personal talk show 'Connected interactions' and told about our projects Shuttercam and Shutterring. Why and how did this projects originate? What is data minimisation and how do shutters adhere to this principle? And what are our plans for the future with these projects? Also featured in the talkshow was the project Future Frictions. This project encourages reflection and debate on the interconnectedness between individual and collective values in smart cities, and on the impact of technology shaping our urban experience. Watch the recording of the talk show here (Coen is on stage from 00:20:14).

Klokgebouw expo

Part of the Up Close & Personal program is the Klokgebouw expo where two of our projects were exhibited. A prototype of the Shuttercam - including opt-out button - and the recently updated prototype of the Shutterring were showed next to a video made by Design United featuring Thijs, the other initiator of the Lab.

E-magazine

Our projects Shuttercam and Shuttering are also featured in the Up Close & Personal e-magazine. Read the magazine here. In the last section you will find a DIY-guide on how to make your own Shutterring following 4 simple steps. This guide can also be found on our Shutterring project page. All you need is a 3D-printer, some glue and tape!

After the Dutch Design Week has finished, our prototypes will move to the exhibition space of Amsterdam Smart City at the Marineterrein. Once this expo is live, we will give you all the info!
